A debut collection in precious metal inspired by the shapes of mangrove forests and the vital role they play protecting our environment against global warming.
A recent tour of the mangrove forests in Guadeloupe informed me of the crucial role they play, protecting our environment from rising CO2 levels. Their immense capacity for carbon capture is five times greater than any other type of forest. They are also vital to communities, providing protection from storms and tsunamis and the shelter they give young marine life helps to ensure continued healthy fish stocks and livelihoods for the surrounding populations. Yet mangroves are one of the worlds most at risk habitats, disappearing at a faster rate than any other tree cover. More then half the worlds mangrove swamps are now gone. Those remaining require urgent protection from global deforestation.
The dualistic themes of protection, combined with the magnificent shapes and undulations of the mangrove roots themselves, have inspired all the designs in this collection.
