Exciting happenings at Goldsmiths' Hall...

I’ve been very quiet of late as I have been head-down in the studio like Rumpelstiltskin, working into the small hours towards the creation of a new collection, pretty much every day since Christmas. I have some exciting news to follow soon about my very first international jewellery event, happening just over a week from now.

But before this, there was the most exciting event to attend earlier in March, breaking up all the workshop hours and making them all that more worthwhile.

(Sorry about the jewellers thumbnail…I scrubbed them up before the ceremony)

I was invited to the Goldsmiths’ Craft & Design Council Awards (known in the trade as the ‘Jewellery Oscars’) at the incredible Goldsmiths’ Hall on Foster Lane. I’ve never been inside Buckingham Palace, but I think some of the rooms inside the hall aren’t far off in comparison.

It was an amazing experience just to be there, but to find out on the night that I had won a Silver and the UK National Association of Jewellers Award for my Legacy Brooch was a lovely shock, to say the least!

I had a wonderful night, met some lovely fellow makers for the first time and caught up with some familiar faces who helped make this ‘fish-out-of-water’ feel a little more at ease. The talent on display on the screen and in the exhibition was something else.

Thank you so much to everyone at Goldsmiths’ Craft and Design Council for such a wonderful event and opportunity and to Heather and Belinda from the NAJ for selecting and presenting me with your award.

An exhibition of the prize winning work follows the awards evening at the Birmingham Assay Office in March, and will also be on display in The Goldsmiths’ Centre atrium in Farringdon in May-June. Admission is free.

But for now it’s back to the workshop and finishing off the new collection…
